Governance of the GIS « Campus de la Mer »

The GIS is based on three coordination structures:

  • The GIS committee,
  • The GIS director,
  • The Scientific Council of the GIS.

The committee

The GIS committee is composed of representatives of signatory parties (one representative per institution). The GIS committee elects its president by an absolute majority of members that are represented. The first GIS committee meeting took place on Wednesday 12 September 2012 in headquarter of the « Campus de la Mer » located in the universitary centre « Capécure » in Boulogne-sur-Mer. Mr. Dominique GODEFROY, Director of the « IFREMER », Channel – North Sea Centre in Boulogne-sur-Mer, was unanimously elected as President of the « Campus de la Mer » GIS committee.

The director

The GIS director is nominated by the President of the « PRES Lille Nord de France » in agreement with the President of the « ULCO ». Before any decision, the candidacy is submitted to the opinion of the GIS committee. Gathered on September 12, 2012, the GIS committee proposed as the GIS director Mr. Bernard DROBENKO, public law professor at the « Université du Littoral Côte d’Opale. »

The Scientific Council

The Scientific Council of the GIS is composed of scientific important persons, members of GIS parties or not, reputed in the various disciplines related to the GIS activities that are designated by the GIS committee on a proposal of the GIS director. The first meeting of the GIS Scientific Council took place on Thursday 25 October 2012 in headquarter of the « Campus de la Mer ». Mr. Christophe GIBOUT, University professor of Sociology and Assistant Director of the regional laboratory « TVES (Territoires, Ville, Environnement et Société, EA 4477, PRES Lille-Nord de France) » who is in charge of the « ULCO » centre of this laboratory and the director of the « Maison de la Recherche en Sciences Humaines et Sociales » in Dunkerque was elected as President of the « Campus de la Mer » GIS Scientific Council.
